An Heirloom of Habit

There is a certain calm that arrives when we take our time to dress. Adornment, at its heart, is not about being seen but about how it makes us feel. It lives in the way a saree is draped slowly, in the familiarity of movements learned by watching women before us, and in the quiet confidence that follows.

This art has been passed down gently, from mothers to daughters, from grandmothers to granddaughters. It teaches us to pause, to choose with care, and to honour the moment we are in. To adorn oneself is to engage in a ritual of softness and self respect, where every fold becomes an expression of presence and grace.

Mehr; a sign from above

There are signs that arrive without sound, like a butterfly that lingers as if delivering a message meant only for us. Butterflies are said to be a sign of faith from the universe - a sign of hope and endurance. 

The day we shot for Mehr, it felt like everything that could go wrong – was going wrong; leaving us with a sense of helplessness we’d never felt before. In the middle of the chaos,  a little white butterfly fluttered into the garden and hovered around us for a while, even nesting on one of our legs and one of our hands for some time. As if to say – take a breath and enjoy the calm in the chaos, and to let us know that everything would be okay. In its presence we found a sense of hope, a feeling that angels walk quietly beside us. The art of slow living has taught us this for sure — to keep our eyes open, to live in the moment and the universe will communicate with you in ways you didn't imagine.

Book club; A Return to What Matters

Soulful Simplicity by Courtney Carver feels like a gentle reminder rather than a set of rules. It invites us to look at our lives with honesty and ask what truly adds meaning and what quietly weighs us down. The book speaks to the beauty of choosing less, not as a form of restraint, but as a way of making space for clarity, ease, and intention.

In its pages, simplicity becomes an act of self care. It encourages slowing down, listening inward, and building a life that feels light yet full. Much like the rituals we cherish, it reminds us that when we simplify with purpose, we allow more room for presence, gratitude, and quiet joy.

Self growth is rarely loud or dramatic. More often, it unfolds in quiet moments when we choose awareness over reaction and patience over urgency. It is found in small shifts, in learning to listen to ourselves with kindness, and in allowing change to happen at its own pace.

Growth asks us to soften before we strengthen. To release what no longer feels aligned and to trust the slow becoming that follows. In tending to ourselves with care, we discover that self growth is not about reaching somewhere new, but about returning to who we have always been.

This way of seeing encourages gratitude and presence. By honouring the everyday, we learn to move through life with softness and intention, discovering that beauty often reveals itself when we are willing to notice.

The Comfort of a Gentle Ritual

Tea has become such an integral part of so many of our daily rituals. Whether it’s nani’s Adhrak chai in the morning, or my green tea every night before I sleep. From soirees over english tea and biscuits, to the chai pe charcha happening at 5 pm on the street corner by the office. From japanese tea ceremonies to Kashmiri Kahwa, this humble leaf has quietly set its place in the hearts of many. 

The ritual invites us to reflect on the different ways people make things their own, the different ways they use it to show love to themselves and others.

When we return to the Gita, we return to balance. It grounds us in purpose, encourages compassion, and reassures us that clarity often follows surrender. In reading it slowly, we find comfort, direction, and a sense of quiet strength that carries into everyday life.
